How it runs

What happens next, step by step.

1

Consult & measure

Showroom or in-home. We measure properly, talk budget honestly, and listen to how you actually cook.

2

Design & quote

A millimetre-accurate design with a fixed, itemised proposal. You sign off the drawings, not a sketch.

3

Built in our workshop

Your cabinetry is made in-house on the Sunshine Coast, checked against the drawings before it leaves.

4

Install & handover

Installed by the makers, trades coordinated, site left clean. Walkthrough against the drawings at handover.

Why Grainline

The proposal is the kitchen.

What our itemised proposal locks in, and the shortcuts we will never take.

The 7-line quote
  1. 1 The measured design. Laser-measured, drawn to the millimetre, and signed off by you before anything is cut.
  2. 2 Cabinetry, itemised. Carcass material, door fronts, hardware brand and finish, every unit on its own line.
  3. 3 Benchtops & surfaces. Stone or timber, slab grade, edge profile and cutouts, priced exactly, not "from".
  4. 4 Install & trades coordination. Our installers, plus the licensed plumber and electrician scheduled around your build.
  5. 5 Appliance integration. Panels, cutouts and clearances for your chosen appliances, checked against the drawings.
  6. 6 Approvals & site allowances. Where walls or services move: approvals, waste and protection, accounted for, not discovered.
  7. 7 Warranty, in writing. 10-year cabinetry warranty plus registered Blum and benchtop manufacturer warranties at handover.
If a quote doesn’t show these lines, you can’t compare it, and you don’t know what’s been cut.

What you get from us

  • Built in our own Sunshine Coast workshop
  • A measured design you sign off before cutting
  • Hardware brands named in the quote (Blum, not "soft close")
  • One install crew, the people who built it
  • 10-year cabinetry warranty in writing

Cowboy tells

  • Flat-pack imports re-badged as "custom"
  • A quote off your rough sketch, resized later
  • "Equivalent" hardware swapped in after signing
  • Subbies who have never seen your drawings
  • A warranty that ends when the installer drives off
Honest scope

Refresh, renovate, redesign, or one beautiful piece?

Option A

Benchtop or fronts refresh

New benchtops, door fronts and hardware on your existing carcasses. The honest option when the bones are sound.

Right when: Carcasses square and dry, layout works, budget focused.
Wrong when: Water-damaged carcasses or a layout that fights you daily.
$6,000 to $18,000
Most common

Full kitchen renovation

New cabinetry, benchtops and layout in the existing footprint. Our bread and butter, designed around how you cook.

Right when: The kitchen is tired or the layout is wrong, footprint is fine.
Wrong when: You are moving walls or plumbing, that is the next option.
$25,000 to $55,000
Option C

Structural redesign

Walls moved, plumbing and electrical relocated, the kitchen reimagined. Needs approvals and licensed trades, all coordinated by us.

Right when: Opening up the living space or relocating the kitchen entirely.
Wrong when: The footprint already works, you would be paying for disruption.
$55,000 to $120,000+
Option D

Custom cabinetry only

Walk-in pantry, laundry, wardrobes, entertainment units or office joinery, built to the same standard as our kitchens.

Right when: One beautiful piece of joinery, not a whole kitchen.
Wrong when: The kitchen itself is the problem.
Designed first, then quoted
Before you call anyone

Work out your scope, then ballpark it.

Two free tools: one gives you an honest steer between refresh, renovation and redesign; the other a realistic range in under a minute. Both store nothing, and both end in a measured consult, not a hard sell. Neither is a quote.

Guarantee in writing

Layer 03

“Fourth-floor apartment, body corporate rules, and a kitchen that had to survive holiday guests. Saskia designed around the lift dimensions and the install crew were in and out in four days. The drawings were exactly what got built.”

“Our second kitchen renovation, so we knew the traps. Grainline named the hardware brand and the actual slab in the proposal. Nothing got swapped, nothing got vague, and the price did not move.”

“They talked us OUT of a full renovation. New fronts, benchtop and a proper pantry fit-out for under half what we budgeted, and honestly it looks like a new kitchen. That honesty wins them the next job too.”

The questions every customer asks, answered once.

Costs, lead times, living through it, and what the 10-year warranty covers, answered straight.

How much does a custom kitchen cost?
Honest ranges for the Sunshine Coast: a fronts-and-benchtop refresh runs $6,000 to $18,000, a full renovation in the existing footprint $25,000 to $55,000, and a structural redesign $55,000 to $120,000+. Your exact figure comes from a measured design and a fixed, itemised proposal, never a guess off a phone call.
Is it really custom, or flat-pack with extra steps?
Genuinely custom. Your cabinetry is designed to the millimetre from a laser measure and built in our own Noosaville workshop, carcasses, fronts and all. We are happy to show you the workshop, which is a question worth asking anyone who says "custom".
What is a measured design, and why does it matter?
A measured design starts with a laser measure of your actual space, not a sketch from memory. Every cabinet, cutout and clearance is drawn to the millimetre before the proposal is written, which is what makes the price fixed: the spec is known, so there are no surprises on site.
How long does a kitchen take?
About three weeks of workshop lead time after you sign off the design, then five to eight days on site for a standard footprint. The genuinely disruptive stretch, no sink, is usually two to three days, and we name those days before demolition starts.
Stone or timber benchtop, which should I choose?
Stone suits kitchens that see heavy daily use: it is hard, heat-tolerant and easy to keep clean. Timber brings warmth to a calmer kitchen or a hinterland home, and ages well with a periodic oil. We bring both to the consult and let you feel the difference in natural light.
Do you design around my appliances, or do I choose them later?
We design around the exact models: a different fridge is a different cabinet width, and a different oven is a different stack depth. Lock the appliances before the drawings, or lock the cabinetry spec first and shop within the dimensions we give you. Either way, the spec sheet drives the design.
Can I see and feel the finishes before deciding?
Yes, that is what the Noosaville showroom is for: real drawers to slam, door finishes in your hands, slab samples in natural light. Showroom hours are Monday to Friday 8:30 to 4:30 and Saturday mornings, or we bring samples to the in-home consult.
Are you licensed for kitchen work in Queensland?
Yes. Kitchen work over $3,300 in Queensland legally requires a QBCC licence on the contract, and ours (QBCC 15 000 000) is on every proposal. Plumbing, gas and electrical relocations are done by the licensed trades we coordinate.
What does the 10-year warranty cover?
Our cabinetry and workmanship, carcasses, doors and install, warranted in writing for ten years. Hardware carries the Blum lifetime warranty and benchtops the manufacturer warranty, both registered for you at handover, so every layer is covered by the party who made it.
How do I get started?
Book a consult, showroom or in-home, and bring a rough sketch or some photos of the space. We measure properly, listen to how you cook, and follow up with an honest read on budget and options. No obligation, no hard sell.
