The surface everything happens on

Benchtops & Surfaces

A benchtop swap is the highest-impact single upgrade a sound kitchen can get. We template to the millimetre, name the exact slab in the quote, and coordinate the plumber for the sink and tap reconnect.

Benchtops & Surfaces by Grainline Kitchens & Cabinetry
Scope

What this job includes.

  • Engineered stone, porcelain, granite and timber
  • Laser templating on your actual carcasses
  • Edge profiles, waterfalls and cutouts priced exactly
  • Sink, tap and cooktop reconnection coordinated
  • Old tops removed and recycled
Our system: The quote names the slab, the grade and the edge profile, so the benchtop you get is the benchtop you chose.
How we quote it

A fixed, itemised proposal from a measured design.

Named hardware, named slabs, signed drawings. The price cannot drift because the spec cannot drift.

The 7-line quote
  1. 1 The measured design. Laser-measured, drawn to the millimetre, and signed off by you before anything is cut.
  2. 2 Cabinetry, itemised. Carcass material, door fronts, hardware brand and finish, every unit on its own line.
  3. 3 Benchtops & surfaces. Stone or timber, slab grade, edge profile and cutouts, priced exactly, not "from".
  4. 4 Install & trades coordination. Our installers, plus the licensed plumber and electrician scheduled around your build.
  5. 5 Appliance integration. Panels, cutouts and clearances for your chosen appliances, checked against the drawings.
  6. 6 Approvals & site allowances. Where walls or services move: approvals, waste and protection, accounted for, not discovered.
  7. 7 Warranty, in writing. 10-year cabinetry warranty plus registered Blum and benchtop manufacturer warranties at handover.
If a quote doesn’t show these lines, you can’t compare it, and you don’t know what’s been cut.
How it runs

What happens, step by step.

1

Consult & measure

Showroom or in-home. We measure properly, talk budget honestly, and listen to how you actually cook.

2

Design & quote

A millimetre-accurate design with a fixed, itemised proposal. You sign off the drawings, not a sketch.

3

Built in our workshop

Your cabinetry is made in-house on the Sunshine Coast, checked against the drawings before it leaves.

4

Install & handover

Installed by the makers, trades coordinated, site left clean. Walkthrough against the drawings at handover.

Insured, covered, guaranteed

The paperwork behind the price.

Public liability to $20M, and a 10-year cabinetry warranty, all in writing, all on request.

Kitchen work over $3,300 in Queensland legally requires a QBCC licence on the contract, ours is on every proposal. We carry public liability to $20M, the cabinetry is warranted in writing for ten years, and the hardware and benchtop warranties are registered for you at handover.

The cover, the guarantee, and how to check each one.

Questions, answered

Benchtops & Surfaces: common questions.

Can you put stone on my existing cabinets?
If the carcasses are square, dry and structurally sound, yes, and we check that honestly at the measure. Stone on failing carcasses is money wasted, and we will tell you so.
How long is the kitchen out of action?
Templating is one visit, then the new top goes on about a week later. You are without a sink for part of one day, the plumber reconnects the same afternoon.
What is the difference between engineered stone and natural stone?
Engineered stone (Caesarstone, Silestone and similar) is consistent, non-porous and very hard. Natural stone (marble, granite) is unique in pattern, requires sealing, and some varieties mark more easily. Both are beautiful; the right choice depends on how the kitchen is used and which trade-offs you are comfortable with.
Which benchtop material suits a Sunshine Coast kitchen?
Honed engineered stone is the most popular choice here: it handles the humidity, resists sunlight on the cooktop run, and does not need sealing. Timber works beautifully on an island used for prep and casual dining but needs periodic oiling. We bring samples to the measure and let the space decide.
Can I have a waterfall edge on my island?
Yes, and we template it precisely. A waterfall takes the slab over the island end and down to the floor in a mitred join. The slab needs to be long enough, or bookmatched if the pattern needs to flow, which we confirm at the template measure.
